LoFi
is a duo project of drummer Marc Lohr and piano player Anders Filipsen
and is based in Copenhagen, Denmark. The band plays highly progressive
and intensive music; composed and freely improvised. The duo creates a
musical universe that is open and impossible to
determine, drawing on
such diverse traditions as the free/avantgarde
jazz as well as electronic and alternative rock. This background is one
of the key elements in this duos ability to create a surprising sound,
that constantly urges the listener to take a stand.

Marc
Lohr grew up in Luxembourg where he studied jazz as well as classical
music; he also studied in Holland; he graduated from the royal
conservatory in The Hague; he is currently living in Copenhagen,
Denmark.
It would take more than a few words to describe all his current
projects. He mostly plays music which is or includes improvisation;
what ever shape and sound the outcome has, strongly depends on the
band. He also writes music; sometimes for dance, sometimes not.

Anders
Filipsen's sound is characterized by his way of using the keyboard in a
percussive manner which brings out the full range of the instrument's
dynamic potential. As a pianist he is inspired by both the tradition
and the avantgarde ranging from Red Garland and Monk to Ornette Coleman
and Cecil Taylor. The last couple of years he has begun playing
keyboards in bands like Farven Luft and Lima Lima, which mixes
avantgarde pop with the free/jazz. |
